Q:
Does an FUE procedure look natural?
A:
Simply put, hair transplant is artfully moving hairs. Our goal is to leave your donor looking as good as the new transplanted hair. With FUE, we harvest hairs in the natural groupings, or follicular units. The results are natural and because you are not left with a linear scar, no one will know you’ve had a procedure unless you tell them.
Q:
What is FUE?
A:
FUE, Follicular Unit Extraction, is the most advanced method of hair transplantation. This technique is out-patient, performed under a local anesthesia, with minimal down time. The grafts harvested are then placed into the thinning or balding area where they grow into a natural, permanent pattern over the next year. A stronger, more viable follicle produces a better result for the patient.
Q:
Does an FUE procedure hurt?
A:
Our goal is to keep you comfortable before, during and after your procedure. We offer an outpatient procedure that requires only a local anesthetic. During the procedure, you should experience very little discomfort. The day following your procedure you may experience some sensitivity in the donor, or notice slight swelling. Typically these symptoms go away after 1 to 3 days.
Q:
Are FUE procedure results permanent?
A:
The transplanted hair will grow the rest of your life! We harvest the permanent hair and implants it to the thinning areas of your scalp. As this hair is not susceptible to the conditions that cause male pattern baldness, the transplanted hair will last a lifetime.
Q:
How long does it take to heal or recover from FUE procedure?
A:
Recovery time varies with individual patients. With FUE there are no surgical incision or stitches required, and the healing is typically very quick. Most patients return to normal daily activities within a day or two.
Q:
How long does an FUE procedure take?
A:
Although the time can vary depending on the amount of hair your transplant, the procedure is scheduled for a full day. You can expect to be comfortable in our office for 6-8 hours.
Q:
Will a FUE procedure leave scarring in the donor area?
A:
We selectively harvest individual hair groupings, rather than removing a large area of scalp requiring sutures. This procedure leaves the donor area virtually undetectable. Hair can be worn fashionably short, or in longer styles - whatever you prefer. You’re not limited by having to cover scarring from strip surgery.
Q:
Am I a good candidate for an FUE procedure?
A:
Only a physician can determine you are a good candidate for hair restoration. Your candidacy is determined based on your age, extent of hair loss, donor supply and expectations.
